Rita - Rottweiler mix - 3 years
Rita was picked up very pregnant as a stray with two other dogs so we aren’t sure exactly what her situation was prior to this. At home she is great, loves to be close to you and follow you around the house. She will sleep on your feet or your lap if you let her. She is very smart and connects with her person on a deep level. She looks to you for guidance and reassurance. She is currently being fostered with two older kids which she loves but this was a slow process for them to gain her trust and all to feel comfortable. She would probably do best in a home without any children. She is extremely dog reactive and is workmen with a training to manage this. We are looking for someone to continue working with her and a trainer to get her and keep her on the right track. She has been making lots of progress and we are committed to helping her get to a better place with the help of the right person. Currently leash walks are limited so she does a lot of playing in the yard. She is very sweet once you gain her trust, and once you do you feel so special!
Max - Pitbull mix - 2 year
Max is a very friendly boy! He’s very loving, smart and energetic. Happy to meet new people and dogs. He is great off leash, needs continued on leash training tho, doesnt like being left alone but hasn’t been destructive in the slightest in the house. Very friendly and interested in everyone. He’s so bouncy and excitable, very playful and excited!
Buddy - American Bulldog - 7 months
Gunner was found at the gas station in grand rapids begging for food. No one knew where he came from but said he shows up everyday looking for food. He had no collar, was very dirty, very very smelly, ribs exposed, eyes were swollen shut almost from bug bites, he had a cut on his head (looked like a knife slash) that will most likely be a scar for him for life, and he was very badly sunburnt as he is short haired white dog. It didn't take much convincing to get him in the car, he slept the whole car ride and snored and dreamed the whole way, you could tell he was completely exhausted. When he arrived at his temporary home, he refused to leave the car which is heartbreaking because its like he didn't want to be abandoned again. He had to be carried form the car. He was bathes, given food and water which he devoured and then went right to sleep. The next day he was introduced to the other dogs and cats. He did beautifully with the dogs but horribly with the cats. He has a very high prey drive and cannot be in the same home with a cat. He is an amazing boy who is extremely well behaved with other dogs and kids but he cannot be around cats.
